Roof & Foundation Conditions

Description/Cause:  Water molecules penetrate microscopic pits and cracks on the surface of metal where it reacts with iron to form rust.  This destructive process dissolves metal and weakens the structure over time.  Metal should never be left exposed directly to the elements.

Damage Created by Condition:  Metal surfaces will develop pits and eventually holes as the rust formation process continues.  Metal roof panels will develop leaks and if the condition is not corrected, the exposed metal roof will eventually fail completely.

Suggested Maintenance/Products Required:  Metal needs to be protected from directed exposure to the weather.  Cover the metal with a protective coating.  Apply KARNAK #404 Corrosion Proof Base Coat followed by one of KARNAK’s reflective finish coats #501 Elasto-Brite, 505HS Mohave Coat, 535 QS Enviro-Lastic  or #670HS Karna-Sil Ultra.  For a solvent-based option apply KARNAK #502 Self-Priming Base Coat followed by KARNAK #502 RC-W Elasto-Kote.
